It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of our longest serving member and former President Frank Ward on October 13th 2007 following illness.
Frank became a member of the Lodge in the early 1960's and was a very talented club member for over 40 years including being our President in 1984 - 86.
Bowls and the Owton Lodge Bowling Club in particular was a large part of his life and only illness prevented him from continuing to play the game he loved so much.
Frank will always be remembered by all those who knew him as a true Gentleman in both sport and in life.
Our thoughts go to his wife Joan and family at this sad time.

New Club Polo shirts are now available which will include a copy of the club badge and possibly the wearers name underneath. The shirts are of the new breathable type material and are white in colour so can be used in the Indoor if you wish. The shirts are expected to cost £10 each, dependant on the total amount ordered by he club.
If you wish to to purchase a shirt (or 2 perhaps?) then please contact Dave Kilner .
This year Marjorie Taylor is the Durham County President and she will be hosting her Presidents Day at the Owton Lodge on Monday 14th July 2008. All the Lodge ladies have been given an invitation to attend the ceremonies and a meal after at the Owton Lodge Hotel. We all wish Marjorie a happy and successful year.
The Durham County Ladies 4's semi finals and finals were held at the Owton Lodge on the 14th May. The semi finalists were Mrs. S. Almond (Lyndhurst), Mrs. T. Gibson (Vane Tempest), Mrs. N Shaw (Norton) and Mrs G.Jones (Consett). The winner rs G.Jones and the runner up Mrs T. Gibson. We would lke to wish both these teams good luck at Leamington later this year.
This year the Lodge ladies have been successful in obtaining grants from the Civic Lottery, HVDA and Tees Valley for improvements to the clubhouse with new tables and chairs to help with affiliation fees and the residents Day. Many thanks to all those responsible for us getting those grants.
